Avoiding hypertension involves adopting a healthy lifestyle and managing risk factors.

Here are some tips:

1. Healthy Diet: Focus on a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and low-fat dairy products. It is advisable to restrict the amount of saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, sodium, and added sugars in your diet.

2. Maintain Weight: Being overweight or obese increases your risk of hypertension. Aim for a healthy weight by following a balanced diet and starting exercise

3. Exercise Regularly: Start exercising 3–4 days a week. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of heavy exercise per week, along with muscle-strengthening activities.

4. Limit Alcohol Consumption: Drinking too much alcohol can raise your blood pressure. Reduce alcohol consumption to moderate levels, which is up to one drink per day.

5. Quit Smoking: Smoking damages blood vessels and can increase blood pressure. Quitting smoking can improve your overall health and lower the risk of hypertension.

6. Reduce Salt Intake: High salt intake is linked to high blood pressure. Limit the amount of salt in your diet by avoiding processed foods, and using herbs and spices to flavor food instead of salt.

7. Manage Stress: Stress is the major cause of hypertension and many other diseases. If you want to control your hypertension then you must control your stress and stress-causing factors.

8. Monitor Your Blood Pressure: Regularly monitor your blood pressure at home or your doctor’s office. This can help you track changes.

9. Get Enough Sleep: Lack of sleep or poor-quality sleep can contribute to hypertension. Aim for 7–8 hours of quality sleep is compulsory.

10. Follow Medical Advice: If you have other health conditions, such as diabetes or high cholesterol, follow your doctor’s recommendations for managing these conditions. Uncontrolled health conditions can contribute to hypertension.
